Jacquemus :: The TINIEST Bag in the World
I am an avid bag collector so when the French designer label, Jacquemus debuted their latest collection on the runway in February 2019, it included the smallest bag in the world. The label named this tiny bag “Le Petit Chiquito”, not to be confused with their other mini bag which is slightly larger named appropriately, “Le Chiquito”. With a background working for Comme des Garçons, it’s no surprise that self-taught Parisian designer Simon Porte Jacquemus is famed for his unconventional approach to fashion.
When I first saw this bag I fell in love with it because of the size!! It is ssooo small you can only fit maybe a hundred dollar bill folded up or a few quarters, maybe a stick of gum? This micro bag comes with a shoulder strap to make it a cross body bag that just makes it even more cute!!! You can wear it as a necklace, crossbody, by the itty bitty handle or even as a bag charm on another bag. This cutie patootie bag has a flap closure and a gold plated “J” on the front of the bag. The possibilities are endless and so is the wait. These bags gained so much press when they debuted that the label quickly sold out of these bags and a wait list has been started.
The next release of the bag is coming quick though, in the beginning of September I have heard, and the demand is even larger. Both the “Le Petit Chiquito” & “Le Chiquito” bags come out in new colors each season and this upcoming season a crocodile leather embossed style will be debuting which is all the rage. Both bags are abvailable for pre-order on ModaOperandi.com. The price on these cuties are not for the faint of heart as they range from $225 - $460 USD for these micro bags however on the re-sell market they can go for up to triple those original retail prices.. I was lucky enough to have someone on the inside to be able to secure me two of these bags (one in black and one in my signature orange color). I will have a second post with a full review on the bag as I get to wear it, love it and explore life with it.
I cannot wait to play with these bags for a night going out or even a charity event. I will definitely use this bag as a shock factor but I definitely have to use it on a night that I do not need to bring a lot of extra bobbles with me. I am so excited to see the new colors being debuted this Fall and I will be adding the crocodile embossed style to my collection as soon as they are released!
What are yourthoughts about these ultra trendy micro bags? Would you wear one? Would spend hundreds of dollars and even wait to be on a list for one?
