Yes!! Hermes has taken over 6 years in England trying to reproduce the Volynka Russian Leather that was used about a hundred years ago to bind books or other articles that they wanted to have a long life. This new leather has a very specific color and is dyed with special Hyde’s in order to get it looking this way. I have heard that this bag does give off a distinct smell because of the leather process of making this bag.

The marks on the leather are not from the Hyde but is hand done to make the leather have that texture. I love how Hermes is bringing back some amazing techniques that are over 100 years old and bring them new again. These special details are what makes the Hermes brand so special and unique to other luxury brands.
