Hermes Cancels Bag Orders Due to Pandemic Workshop Closures
As I was at my last appointment with my Hermes SA, I was told a few horrible things that one should never hear, let alone actually say out loud to a client….”Your orders have been canceled due to the pandemic.” WHAT??!!! Yes, soooooo sad but true was what was coming out of my SA’s mouth. My SA was informed from the head office in France that my “wish list of bags” would be narrowed down as a few of my special ones that I ordered have been canceled because they are no longer making them since they have run out of time with the pandemic closures in their workshops.
When hearing this, my heart sank and I felt as if I couldn’t even take a breathe, but in the grand scheme of things, I rather everyone stay at home and be safe then be at work, possibly getting sick, making a bag for me. I completely understand what is happening in the world right now and how we must live outside our realm to fully recognize how many people are affected and how much we need to get this pandemic under control globally, even in the fashion industry.
I did speak to a friend of mine who is a Hermes Workshop Employee and she said she is still working but things have considerably slowed down as it is taking longer to make pieces as everyone is social distanced on top of the regular cleanings, etc. **I Spoke to her before France shut down for the second time.
While saying all this, I love to mention that this might be a great time to start stocking up on your favorite Hermes pieces as the prices will be increasing…. my next blog post will be about this. Please stay tuned.
