Chanel Price Increase 2021 Explanation from CC Official Spokesperson
We have been scratching our heads about he recent double digit price increase for the second time this year. In some cases, it’s almost the third time Chanel has increased in a full calendar year. We are trying to figure out why the large increase and we finally received an answer from a Chanel spokesperson regarding the November 3, 2021 increases, a Chanel spokesperson said:
“Like all major luxury brands, we regularly adjust our prices to take into account changes in our production costs and raw material prices, as well as exchange rate fluctuations… Price adjustments are made in such a way as to avoid excessive differences between regions.”
With that being said….other major fashion houses have NOT been increasing two to three times a year. Especially their rival competitor, Hermes. With their raw materials and high demand, Hermes does have a regular yearly increase on their quota pieces plus some SLG’s.
Chanel further went on to say, “these adjustments are made while ensuring that we avoid excessive price differentials between countries, in line with our commitments regarding price harmonization.”
The only price differences really that are that extreme is in France, where you can save just a few thousand on a bag. We really have to start thinking to ourselves, is the quality matching up with the prices?? I think Chanel might be overpricing their products to an extreme where it might backfire as loyal devoted CC clients will go elsewhere for higher quality pieces at the same price point.
