Long Lines at Hermes Toronto June 2022

While I keep seeing more and more headlines of line aid people waiting to get into luxury brand boutiques, I personally saw the cue for myself. After getting into the Hermes Toronto Boutique on Bloor street 30 minutes after it opened, I was in a wait for over an hour in which I gave up. I thought getting to the boutique as soon as it opened or as close as I could it wouldn’t be as busy - boy I was wrong!

I could I could see my SA however she was so busy that she couldn’t even get to me. I decided to come back the next day, EARLY, and make sure I was the first person in line for the day. And I was. I got to the Hermes Toronto Bloor boutique 30 minutes before the store opened! Having an appointment does help however some clients do take more time than others or the check out process can take some time which holds up appointments.

I was the first person to get into the Hermes Toronto boutique, which was great, however as soon I started to shop inside the line was out the door. There were people everywhere and I just couldn’t shop how I like with that many people in a cue wrapped around the entire first floor. I decided to come back another day as I don’t have the same comfort as other due to COVID. I take all precautions necessary however I just couldn’t take a crowd at my favorite store - two days in a row.

I am not sure why the long line other than possibly staffing issues? However there are no job postings for any sales associates for the Toronto boutique as I did some research earlier. I am curious to know if this is the new normal? If so, I can understand how the Chanel customer would like a private shopping experience at those VIP stores that are starting to open in Asia this month.
