CHANEL Price Increase Due to Inflation & Craftsmanship??
Chanel’s CEO has stated that recent price increases to the luxury brand is because of inflation and craftsmanship. Welllllll…….we get the point about inflation, yes that is very true however these bags are not made by hand. These products are from CHANEL are not hand made - so did the machines get more expensive? Did CHANEL change manufacturers?? I don’t think so.
The CHANEL brand has licensed out their eyewear like almost every brand does do already from one single manufacturer. They hold a monopoly on the sunglasses luxury market. However Chanel’s bags are made by a machine and then hand finished with their subpar hardware.
The metals used on Chanel’s handbags are not real gold, silver, palladium - it is metal with a finish which I do not believe has been going up that substantially to justify the price of a Chanel bag now at the range of over $10,000 USD. The quality is compared to the Hermes bags such as the Birkin and Kelly bags as those are the price equivalents in the luxury market plus are known competitors, well Chanel is.
Hermes has held the highest state of heritage luxury for decades and continues to do so, Chanel wants to be Hermes. However Hermes is all made by hand. They do not have sunglasses. Their products are the most amazing quality and can be repaired if necessary. Chanel you cannot do any repairs in the USA and Canada unless it is 3 bags. And those 3 bags have to be within certain years. And in black. NO OTHER COLORS. Hermes will repair any Birkin or Kelly bag no matter the color.
I do not understand the justification other than CHANEL CEO wants to compete with Hermes even more now…..however CHANEL will lose its other clients to the second hand market who cannot afford the CHANEL Boutique prices plus taxes associated with NO SALE Events any longer.
