Chanel Price Increase September 2023

Chanel is upping their prices again with a large increase in Asia, starting in Japan and then moving to China and then to Austraila.. With the prices in August still high for the actual product being sold, we are a bit shocked of another increase in their pricing with the same quality of goods being manufactured. Chanel has been trying to compete with their competitor Hermes for the past few years by increasing the pricing and exclusivity of their bags.

With an average increase of 6.9% across all of their bags and purses, this is a quite a significant increase as Chanel already had a price increase earlier in the year. The increases have already been into effect since early September 2023.

A ‘Small Classic’ Chanel flap bag went from 1,428,900 YEN to 1,526,800 YEN - which is a 6.9% increase. A ‘Medium Classic’ Chanel flap bag went from 1,490,500 YEN to 1,591,700 YEN - which is another 6.9% increase. Lastly, the ‘Classic Wallet on Chain’ Chanel bag went from 491,700 YEN to 524,700 YEN - which is a 6.7% increase.

We are hearing rumblings that Hermes has already started their price increases for the Fall 2023 and I am sure Chanel will be having another price increase in a few months - possibly even before the holidays.

Do you think CHANEL should be increasing their prices with the quality of products they are selling to consumers??? The bags are not handmade and we are getting concerned that they are far overreaching their consumer. COMMENT BELOW!
