Does CHANEL Have a Bag Repair Service?
The answer is Yes! Chanel does have an in house bag repair service HOWEVER they only service TWO bags! Yes, you did read that correctly. In the United States, CHANEL will repair two bags - their classic Flap Bag in BLACK ONLY and the Boy Bag in BLACK ONLY. Chanel will also review the year of the bag as some later versions or even newer versions will be declined for an in house repair.
Unlike their competitor Hermes, Chanel does not have a full service Spa service for their bags. With being so limited on what Chanel will accept some customers will go to third parties to get their bags serviced. Once the Chanel bag is altered by a third party, it is null and void for any repairs from any in house Chanel repairs. This means that if you have a Chanel bag that is not Black in color - you will need to get it most likely repaired by a third party.
Chanel does not make a lot of sense however we got down to it that Chanel only keeps certain materials for repair and replacement - most likely the older the bag the better shot you have in getting it repaired, but again it has to be in the color black and in those Chanel styles ONLY. No exceptions!
The CHANEL repair service is located in New York and your bag can be sent from any CHANEL boutique in for repair to NY. It will take 6-8 weeks approximately for the repair or refurbishment. The CHANEL bag will come back to the boutique that sent it off or it can be shipped to your home, depending on your preference.
There is a major contrast between the two French fashion houses on how they maintain their bags over the years with Hermes having a lifetime spa service on all their bags no matter what color or style. Most of the Hermes “Quota bags” such as the Birkin or Kelly - will always have the artisans to do these repairs. Since Chanel is manufactured by machine, there are no artisans that create the bags from scratch which means CHANEL does not have the resources to service all of these repairs.
