Luxury Bag Brand Guide Pyramid
Above is the Luxury Bag Guide which shows all the largest brands and where they fall onto the Luxury Pyramid. This pyramid shows the brands that are most accessible for buyers and then the hardest most expensive brands with the most exclusivity. Starting from Marc Jacobs to Vivienne Westwood in the “Accessible Luxury” sector. These brands such as Coach and Telfar are very affordable and accessible to the public.
We move further up the pyramid to “The Contemporary” section which include more ready to wear brands such as MARNI, Jacquemus, Maison Margela plus Alaia! We are LOVING these brands on a day to day usually and we do see these brands in most department stores around the world. These brands are more expensive and you are starting down an expensive path if these are some of your favorite brands because they only get more expensive the more we go up the pyramid.
We are now at “The Classics” which are brands that can be worn for many decades over and over and even sometimes passed down to others. These brands such as Fendi, Prada, Loewe, Gucci, Valentino, to name a few… These brands will keep you on the front of the fashion train however these pieces from these labels will sustain in value and sometimes even go up. These brands are expensive and are harder to find the pieces associated with their runway collections.
“The Legacies” section includes Goyard, Cartier, Faure Le Page and others which are hand made and are very difficult to purchase as they do not have boutiques in every major city. Most of these brands have a few boutiques world wide and are sold on the secondary market at higher retail prices than the boutiques would sell them at. You can usually resell these brands for a profit and/or not lose your investment. The one brand that I would be a little skeptical about is the DIOR brand as new information has come to light about the costs associated with their bags plus their pieces now retain their resale value.
The last section of this Luxury Bag Brand Guide Pyramid is the “Supreme Luxury”. Supreme Luxury is the most expensive luxury plus they are all handmade with a resale value that will override any in store boutique price on most items. Hermes, Chanel and Delvaux are the few in this sector as these pieces maintain and rise in price over time. For example, the Hermes Kelly or Birkin bag will go up 20% a year, which is better than any high interest savings account yield, which makes it an amazing investment.
