The History of GOYARD

Goyard

Initially specializing in trunk-making, the House of Martin was founded in 1792 by Pierre-François Martin. Under his successor, François Goyard, the company renamed and expanded beyond trunks into leather goods, including cosmetics and jewelry cases, travel bags, suitcases, hat boxes, and pet accessories. Yet, across the newly diverse portfolio, the hallmark of the Maison Goyard handbag remained the Goyardine canvas material, the manufacturing process of which is a close kept family secret. Goyardine is well known for its durability and for growing more beautiful with age. Famously exclusive, Goyard does not sell their bags online and only has locations in 21 cities around the world. Goyard’s signature handbag models include the Saint Louis GM, and its smaller sister the Saint Louis PM.
