The Process of the Hermes Birkin Special Order

Hermes customers and H aficionados are always waiting for the day that their SA lets them know they are able to place a Hermes Special Order for any bag that they would like. I got that special chance on Sunday!! Yes, I have been collecting Hermes for 9 years or so, actively purchasing, however I have been buying pieces here and there around the world since 2001. My first purchase was a small silk scarf that I got at a Duty Free Hermes store in Europe and I eventually framed it. I then bought a Hermes canvas and leather bag at the FSH store around the same years. I then took a decade break and then really saw the brand as a classic which then I dove right in to it all!!!

I have been purchasing a lot pieces throughout the nine years of this relationship however I really bought pieces I loved and that I would use. I finally was asked to place a Special Order for this year, 2022, and I was beyond thrilled however I had to make the decisions on the spot. Some VIP customers of Hermes get to know they qualify for a bespoke bag and that the have time to figure out which colors, type of hardware, color of stitching, etc. would be the options best for them. My time was right then and there. So I did.

I was given all the options of the leathers which ranged from Swift, Epsom, Togo, Clemence and exotics such as Ostrich, Alligator and Crocodile. I was able to choose only one leather option and two colors within that same leather option with means no mixing and matching. So after a few minutes of deciding I choose the colors, the hardware and then it came to the stitching. I really wanted a contrast stitch to pop the bag so I did. :-). I also got my initials on the clochette along with a special charm stamp as I know this bag will be with me until my death plus I wanted to make use of all HSS options possible!

The process with very easy and I was able to see all the colors together along with the hardware. I got the most unique hardware and I cannot wait to see how the bag all comes together in 6-12 months. I will definitely be updating you all when the bag arrives with of course a special unboxing of the Hermes Special Order Birkin.
